Trade Experts is a concept developed by a team of highly skilled tradesmen who wanted a vehicle for tradespeople to promote their business and generate new work opportunities. Prompted by the economic downturn, Trade Experts is an innovative solution  directly connecting reputable tradesmen with work opportunities offered by homeowners throughout New Zealand.

Utopia’s expertise was used to provide the programming component for the more sophisticated aspects of the new website. Specifically the following functionality was developed:

• Searchable directory of tradesmen segmented by region, trade and town or suburb
• Scrolling ticker showing the latest jobs to be added
• Ability for homeowners to register, login and fully manage a job from accepting quotes to job completion
• Daily email of "new jobs" to tradesmen based on their skills and location in New Zealand
• Online database management of homeowners and tradesmen

Over the six week project Utopia worked in conjunction with Webdzinz, who designed and deployed the website in Utopia's Content Management System (CMS). The CMS was used as the complete development framework which meant Webdzinz, Utopia and the end customer could all manage the site content live, in real-time over the Internet.

The Trade Experts site is now live and the site owners are receiving feedback and adding content to their site. Overall the site has been received well – in particular, the tradesman directory has proved a huge success with companies wanting to start online marketing within this new site.
