Forged Alloy specially-designed ute trays and canopies are hand built and a cut above many other examples on the market. Owner Brett approached Utopia looking for a solution to manage his ute canopy manufacturing business.
Utopia mapped out a new portal for all staff to use throughout the manufacturing process. The portal was to capture all information and allow real-time reporting and interaction of jobs. The data collection would allow Brett and his team to refine processes, health and safety, and all aspects of manufacturing to better compete and be more agile in the market.
The portal enables the setup of bespoke production checklists and systems. These enable Forged Alloy to create clear internal process for manufacturing and fitouts. Staff can use a tablet to sign off each others work. This all flows from a job costing part of the portal. Sales staff can quickly select the costings templates for a project. Bespoke modifications can then be made to that specific customer job.
To aid in planning, the portal includes a job calendar. This is populated with all manufacturing and staffing requirements. Public holidays, and staff leave can be input help manage the full production run. This enables Forged Alloy to correctly give completion dates to clients. Changes to the schedule can be analysed to see how they affect the current, and future workload.
Throughout the production process, staff use a timesheet system in the factory. This is an important part of the portal and enabled Forged Alloy to get a real-time view of the actual hours spent on jobs. A range of features then allow for easy reporting on staff hours and corelation to project budgets.
Real-time snapshots on projects are the key to the portal. All project costings – including materials, staff hours, and final invoices are matched up to give a true representation of the financial outcome of a job.
