North West Country Incorporated represents and supports more than 420 businesses and 467 commercial property owners throughout the North West Auckland region. The association approached Utopia to modernise its existing website. While the existing site was functioning well, there was a need to enhance the business directory, refresh the design, and create new opportunities to attract and grow membership.
To keep development costs manageable, it was decided to utilise an existing WordPress template rather than commission a fully custom design. This approach allowed the project to benefit from proven functionality while requiring only minimal customisation to meet the association’s requirements.
Utopia presented General Manager Danielle with a selection of WordPress templates suited to a business directory website. The chosen solution provided comprehensive directory functionality for member businesses. Each listing includes business contact details, website information, map locations, logos, images, and detailed descriptions to help members effectively promote their products and services.
Once a suitable template had been selected, Utopia configured and customised the website, including importing member information from the previous website. This provided a strong foundation for the new directory and enabled the association to take advantage of the additional features available.
In addition to promoting member businesses, the website includes a secure members-only area containing meeting minutes, documentation, and other resources available exclusively to members. The administration system allows association staff to manage memberships, update business listings, and maintain member records through an easy-to-use interface.
A blog enables the quick and easy publication of news, updates, and other information for website visitors. The website is fully responsive, ensuring it works seamlessly across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) was completed on the website pages and content to help improve visibility in search engine results.
